Legality and Use of an International Driver's License

For EU or EEA SIM holders, an international driving license does not offer any added value for driving within the EEA, as the model must always be presented together with the Community national driver's license. Non-EU citizens can apply for an international driver's license in their home country. You can drive in Belgium with an international driver's license for one year, but you must also have a national driver's license. However, once they are officially a resident of Belgium (i.e., registered with the local municipality), all non-EU drivers are required to obtain a Belgian driver's license.
